Our Planet, Our Future: An OPC Climate Summit to Empower Youth & DC Communities – April 29, 2023

Dear Friends and Associates,

The Office of People’s Counsel for the District of Columbia invites you to attend OPC’s second in a series of community conversations on climate change on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, at Catholic University’s Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center. The target audience for “Our Planet, Our Future: An OPC Climate Summit to Empower Youth & DC Communities,” will be Gen Z and millennials. However, environmental stakeholders and DC residents of all ages are urged to attend.

OPC’s goal is to bring together community representatives, industry experts, academia, national and local officials, utility partners, and media influencers to connect with youth and young adults who are often at the forefront of influencing movements such as climate action. The summit will raise awareness about climate change and empower youth to find their role, to use their voice, and to inspire action in their communities. The event also aligns with OPC’s statutory mandate to consider “the preservation of environmental quality, including effects on global climate change and the District's public climate commitments, ” while advocating on matters pertaining to the operation of public utility or energy companies. In effect, our goal is to lead a critical conversation about climate change solutions as we all work together to achieve the District’s climate goals in a just, affordable, and resilient manner.

A Message from the People's Counsel about the Climate Summit.

OPC requests your attendance and asks that you spread the word via your newsletter and networks. Attached is the flyer that you can share. Go to OPC's Youth Climate Summit to register and get more details about the event. Thanks for your support.
