Youth Education Workshop – October 24, 2016

On Monday, October 24, 2016 OPC Community Outreach Specialist Denise E. Blackson conducted OPC’s “Engaging Our Youth on Energy Efficiency” workshop at the FBR Branch Boys and Girls Club @THEARC located at 1901 Mississippi Ave. SE in Washington DC. To educate DC youth on energy efficiency practices.

The workshop engages the children in hands-on energy efficiency activities and verbal interaction with the use of specially designed energy focused educational coloring and activity books mated to the elementary age student. The children participating in the FBR Branch Boys and Girls Club Winter Program youth ranged from kindergarteners through the second grade.

Eager to learn, the children readily shared their stickers and hi-fives with every correct answer regarding the presentation. As they completed the program, each child received an OPC backpack filled with coloring books, crayons and energy efficiency stickers to share with their parents.
