On Monday, July 10, 2017 OPC Community Outreach Specialist Denise E. Blackson presented an Energy Efficiency Workshop to youth at the Bethel Christian Fellowship Child Development Center Summer Camp located at 2220 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE in Washington DC. The series “Engaging Our Youth on Energy Efficiency” is an initiative begun by OPC to teach children about energy safety and energy efficiency.
Ms. Blackson engages the youth in hands-on energy efficiency activities and verbal learning. The workshops include creative art and activity books designed specifically for elementary and middle school students. About 14 youth attended the workshop.
At the conclusion of the workshop youth were able to better understand key electric safety tips such as why they must, never stick their fingers or parts of toys into electrical outlets, and basic energy efficiency rules they can use at home to help their families save money and the environment.
