On September 6, 2017, OPC Consumer Services Staff attended the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1C monthly meeting at the Mary’s Center, 2355 Ontario Road, N.W., Washington, DC 20009 Ward-1. Mayor Muriel Bowser addressed the audience, providing an update on her Administration’s agenda, future endeavors, and challenges. Mayor Bowser stayed to listen to issues faced by Ward 1 residents. Residents raised concerns to the Mayor regarding how the Executive Office of the Mayor handles matters with the United States House of Representatives - or Capitol Hill that oversees the District of Columbia and makes decisions that impact DC residents and taxpayers. approximately (80) residents were in attendance at the meeting.
OPC’s consumer outreach specialist, Ms. Silvia Garrick of provided fliers on the newly “A Consumer’s Guide to Third Party Suppliers,” OPC’s multilingual rack cards in English and Spanish and invited consumers to join our email list. Ms. Garrick was able to interact with community leaders within the Latino/Hispanic communities, ANC representatives, and members of the communities serve by the ANC representatives.
